Character Motivation: Evelyn loves Egypt and history and the mysteries of it. She has fond memories of her parents telling stories of adventures and digs and finds. She herself was unable to join in such things as she was seen as 'just a woman' and hardly capable enough to be in the field.
For years she attempted to gain admittance to the Bembridge Scholars (info on them here and was denied time and again. She had no field experience, yet no one would let her have any. She was stuck curating the museum of Cairo and reading her every waking moment. She might not have any field experience but her mind was a wealth of knowledge those others could only dream of.
Personality: Evelyn is a thinker, she is very intellectual far more than she is physical, and often uses the one to compensate for the other. It would be easy to write her off as a damsel in distress but that would be a mistake. Even though she is slight she has a stubborn streak that rises when challenged.
Her talent for languages both written and spoken has gotten her far more access to things than she might normally have gotten though the head of the museum is likely to downplay that given she is there as he says out of kindness to her deceased parents.
Speaking of the late Carnahans, Evelyn's parents died when she was still young, and somehow she became the grown-up as her elder brother was seemingly unable to do so. Evelyn managed the annuity she was paid to raise herself and put herself through school while Jonathon spent his mostly on gambling, drink, and hedonism and invariably sought her out when he was broke again.
When Evie set her sights on Cairo her bother followed and became something of a cad who would often come to her for support financially or for a place to stay. But she was at least finding herself closer to her goal of doing what her parent had done. Evie loves her brother, and being each others' only family she is perhaps less strict with him than she should be. But others don't get so much leeway. She is as stinging when offended or insulted as any well-bred, well educated British woman could be.
Canon Strength/Weaknesses: Evie tends to defy being told she can't do something, she'll find a way around it if at all possible and if it makes sense to press. The quickest and surest way to get her to do something is to tell her she isn't capable of it, especially if the reasoning is because she is a woman.
She is exceptionally intelligent and has the ability to learn things very quickly, her memory and ability to absorb information and reason things out is one of her strongest skills. It served her well as a librarian and is what saved all their lives when the mummy had to be defeated by means that could only be found in the books of ancient Egypt. So strong is her knowledge base that she could 'read' by having the image of the hieroglyphs described to her while in the middle of battle.
Evelyn is a proper British lady, with all the manners and expectations that come with it. She expects to be treated as one and respected as one and sometimes gets a bit of an attitude when people fail to do so. (She can be a dainty flower and brat on occasion)
Once Evie is on to something it's almost impossible to make her give it up. She sticks with things until there is no possible way to complete them.

As I understand it we are here to stop some sort of pervasive force of, well destruction seems to be the aptest term. I won’t claim to be an expert in such matters but I have rather recently done battle with the very forces of darkness themselves. Or one of at least, so several I suppose with all the enslaved mummies.
At any rate, I am here to offer my services to assist in this effort. I speak and read several languages, have a rather extensive knowledge of ancient cultures, and I’m learning how to fight as well!
[That might be a bit generous, she has fired a rifle and handful of times and Rick has taught her how to throw a punch. She is very much not the strong fighter others might be and her expression bears that out.]
So then, how does one get started, exactly?
